News & Announcements
Friday, February 1 was the 100th day of school. Take a peek at our grand celebration through the eyes of PK-3 and PK-4. We had face painting and 100 clementines; we had crowns and 100 gumballs (in our gumball machine drawings, of course!); we had pizza and “ring around the 100”. We even counted all the way to 100, Mom and Dad! Kindergarten and First grade had equal amounts of 100 excitement and fun and second grade joined in, too! Who knew 100 could be so much fun.
WAY TO GO, SGA! ADS Student Government Association raised money to buy new gym equipment by organizing a dress down day. The equipment has now arrived and an array of brightly colored ball will be decorating the PE classes come Monday, February 25!
ROBOTICS LAB The Lego kits have arrived as students in grades 4th through 8th continue to learn computer programming and will now proceed to construct machines. Soon they will see the results of their coding in the form of Lego masterpieces that move! What a great tool for learning the integration of science, technology, engineering and math concepts! Special Thanks to volunteers and donors who have helped to make the ADS Robotics Lab happen!
LIBRARY Our library is moving! Iqra library and ADS library have joined hands to plan a youth section in Iqra library. ADS is sharing its 1200+ book strong library holdings with Iqra library so that the students of ADS and other children in the community can enjoy browsing and borrowing books from Iqra library. Stay tuned for updates on the consolidation process.
NEW COMPUTER LAB The space formerly known as the ADS library will now become a computer lab for students. The computer lab will hold 18 computers with high speed Internet connections so that teachers can utilize the resources for class instruction.
REDESIGN OF SPACE Indoor Adventure Zone Coming Soon! We are redesigning the basement space under the gymnasium to accommodate more classroom space as well as an Adventure Zone which will serve as an indoor play area for recess on cold winter days and for creative play to develop students' gross motor skills.
